Pavel Podgoretsky commented on MAPREDUCE-3715:
----------------------------------------------
Eh, never mind "not normally serialized", I just meant to say I realize that
the hosts are handled correctly by SplitMetaInfo.
> FileSplit's Writable implementation discards hosts information

>
> Key: MAPREDUCE-3715
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MAPREDUCE-3715
> Project: Hadoop Map/Reduce
> Issue Type: Bug
> Affects Versions: 0.20.2, 1.0.0
> Reporter: Pavel Podgoretsky
> Priority: Minor
>
> org.apache.hadoop.mapreduce.lib.input.FileSplit's write() does not write out
> hosts, and readFields() sets them to null.
> If this is intended then it should be documented very clearly. But it looks
> more like an oversight to me.
