The latest patch does fix the behavior, nice.
Minor nits:
# I suppose the reason we are setting the message for HSFileException is to log
it. However, the code doesn't log anything. We should do one of the two:
## Log before throwing HSFileException and don't set the message.
## Log when we catch HSFileException.
# The test uses wildcard imports - let us avoid that.
