Rebase the patch and upload it. It looked like it was fairly close. It is just such a big patch that it is hard to fully review it all. In a short time frame. And it looks like the original author of it has abandoned it. Although this may be as much work as rewriting the custom input format. Other then that I really don't know of a good way to bridge the two cleanly.
