Hi Wikimedia Mapping Community, Wikimania 2025 will take place in Nairobi, Kenya from August 6–9, with a pre-conference on August 5. This year’s conference theme, Wikimania at 20: Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability., provides a unique opportunity to showcase innovative contributions to the Wikimedia movement, including the integration of OpenStreetMap and other free map sources into Wikimedia projects.
We invite you to submit program proposals that align with the conference theme before the deadline on 31 March 2025. Presentations can be delivered remotely (live or pre-recorded) or onsite in Nairobi—whatever works best for you! To help spark ideas, here are a few topics that may align with the conference theme and relevant to maps integration: ● Workshops on enhancing accessibility through localized map data integration in Wikimedia platforms. ● Case studies demonstrating how maps integration has advanced knowledge-sharing within Wikimedia projects. ● Strategies for ensuring the long-term success and adaptability of Wikimedia projects through effective use of maps and free map sources.
