Hi all,
I agree that a PSC meeting is needed. I propose that we meet on
2024-02-29, and I have drafted an agenda (including an item to discuss
the workflow changes made over the Christmas holidays) :
- agenda:
https://github.com/MapServer/MapServer/wiki/PSC-Meeting-2024-02-29
- time:
https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?year=2024&month=02&day=29&hour=14&min=0&sec=0&msg=MapServer+PSC+Meeting
minny: 8am
paris: 3pm
helsinki: 4pm
I also updated the release schedule to:
- Feature freeze: Fri. March 8, 2024
- 8.2-beta: Fri. March 15, 2024
- 8.2-rc1: Fri. March 22, 2024
- 8.2 (final): Fri. March 29, 2024
thanks,
-jeff

I have 6907 ready including a global config file MS_EMPTY option (just
need to get my dev box connected back to github). A global MS_ERROR
config file setting would follow easily (#6968). Being able to use
runtime subs in config options would be a nice-to-add (#6994) for this
release but I don't think it is a big add. There was a broader
discussion around a VARIABLES block in the config file as another means
of externalizing configuration options.
A PSC meeting is a good idea.

Hi devs,
The list of issues for the 8.2 release is almost complete:

<https://github.com/MapServer/MapServer/wiki/MapServer-8.2-Release-Plan>
Steve - I had a look at #6113, and have a pull request at
https://github.com/MapServer/MapServer/pull/7020
<https://github.com/MapServer/MapServer/pull/7020> if you get a
chance to review (thanks Even for the review/approval).
It looks like there is also a patch on the way for
https://github.com/MapServer/MapServer/issues/6907
<https://github.com/MapServer/MapServer/issues/6907> which is then
the last remaining issue.
Jeff - any thoughts on a revised release schedule plan?
Might be worth a PSC meeting this month to discuss?
