Sounds like a DNS config problem on your server... can you double-check your network settings? There is no proxy, no firewall the DNS seems ok since I can ping and get to http://atlas.gc.ca
Did you try opening the URL using I.E. directly on the server that produces the error? YES and the image shows up. I also tried with this WMS that everyone knows LAYER NAME "prov_bound" TYPE RASTER STATUS ON CONNECTION "http://www2.dmsolutions.ca/cgi-bin/mswms_gmap?"; CONNECTIONTYPE WMS METADATA "wms_srs" "EPSG:42304" "wms_name" "prov_bound" "wms_server_version" "1.1.1" "wms_format" "image/gif" END END Same behaviour.
