For various erasons I don't expect the authorities that provide the data to be very responsive. The data is not that important, anyway. It's about placenames, and there are many other sources for this well-known and quasi-static data. When I have the time I'll write my own XSL transform to convert the spatial information in the BBOX elements to gml:geometry elements. At best, this would approximate the locations of the places with squares, but that's better than nothing. Nice little exercise to refresh and expand my xslt skills.
