- Step 2: Create a hillshade layer. (I use rel.py with gdal to do this, but you can do it with something else.)
A handy toolset is the "DEM Utilities" (http://www.perrygeo.net/wordpress/?p=7), which, if you're a Windows user, are available in MS4W.
