Thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't do it - same error message. I have been wondering if the problem has to do with the tmp file not having permission for other (web-based) users to access it, but I tried declaring it as a system environment variable, still no success. Going round in circles now... I have successfully installed Map Server and Apache onto winXP using ms4W, and downloaded the Demo. I put the workshop-5.0 directory in the Apache.htdocs directory, and I have modified the index.html file and Itasca.map files in what seems to be a logical way. My problem is that when I launch the application I get the error message: "msSaveImageGD(): Unable to access file. Unable to open file /C:/ms4w/tmp/ms_tmp/ITASCA12433555452596.png for writing". It seems that this is related to the way that I modified the index.html file, which I did as follows: var snippet = "IMAGEPATH '/C:/ms4w/tmp/ms_tmp/'"; snippet += " IMAGEURL '/ms-tmp/'"; I have been tearing my hair out for a few hours trying to see what I have done wrong. Anyone got any suggestions please? Chris Green
