Hi Robert,

Can you check to see that 2193 (NZTM2000) is included in the look-up table of 
projections used by GDAL?

If not, you might try fully describing the parameters in proj.4 syntax instead 
of using the EPSG notation, see:

http://spatialreference.org/ref/epsg/2193/
