I resolved the problem.
I was using FWtools2.4.6 (MapServer 5.6.0 Beta4), that hadn't enabled the
AGG Rendering driver.
I tried to switch to MS4W 5.2.1, and change the OUTPUTFORMAT in mapfile to
this:
OUTPUTFORMAT
NAME 'AGG'
DRIVER AGG/PNG
IMAGEMODE RGB
END
Now it works fine.
