Be careful, though, as OL will request other layers with EPSG:900913 when you defined Google Maps to be your base layer. This may be a struggle in case your other layers are in EPSG:3857. The best solution is to use something like OpenLayers (openlayers.org) and have a Google layer and a MapServer layer. OpenLayers and MapServer work very well together.
