Hello, correct. MapServer does not check the geometry-type, you can visualize a polygon-layer as points showing the vertices for example.
If you only want to show the points of your geometry-colletcion, you have to select the points of your geometry only: select ST_CollectionExtract(geom, 1) as geom ...
