Hi,
This usually the order I test mapserver configurations.
1) Test your mapfile with shp2img
https://www.mapserver.org/utilities/shp2img.html
2) Test your WMS config with the built in open layers viewer:
https://mapserver.org/cgi/openlayers.html
3) Test with QGIS
If you really want test the mapserver syntax, install and use:
https://mappyfile.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ and use the validate
command on the command line.
