Hi to all users of MapServer! As 2024 comes to an end, the MapServer Project Steering Committee is preparing its budget for 2025.
The 2024 budget [1] helped with the creation of a new MapServer workshop [2], which was given at FOSS4G Europe in Tartu [3], and to help get MapServer 8.2 released - along with 2 patch releases, and new MapCache and TinyOWS releases [4]. Due to a reduced OSGeo project budget, we were unable to work on OGC WMS Compliancy (automated tests setup, fixes, and certificate renewal), or any of the proposed features in the 2024 Sponsorship Opportunities [5]. If your organisation relies on MapServer and you have some end of year budget to use, then you can help get these features implemented by sponsoring the project through OSGeo - details are at [6].
