thanks for the answer! It is better to know what does not work than not
knowing if. And sometimes there are undocumented features or hacks.
And you are right, 45° != 90°
I wonder whether starting pie-charts at 3 o'clock is the international /
american / french way to start with the first wedge? I've learned to
start at 12 o'clock, QGIS starts at 12 o'clock. Why doesn't MapServer?

here again my so far unanswered question (I apologize for overlooking
the answer, if there was one):
is it possible to rotate a pie chart by -45 degree?
The first piece of cake should start at 12 o'clock, not at 3 o'clock
