I think you can do image classification using gdal to render pixels
within a specified range with a specific color, which will simulate a
contour map, but there is no code that I know of that computes contour
lines on the fly. Look at the documentation on raster images, and pixel
classification.

Correcting my last phrase: "It would be necessary to define specific
ranges, each one for a particular color."

Hi,
I need MapServer to display the topography of a terrain based on a
DEM file (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEM
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEM>). Is there any configuration
out-of-the-box for example in the LAYER element of the Map file? It
would be necessary to define specific ranges and for each one a
particular color.
Any hint would be most appreciated.
