Frank, this is the result of my bug report about the PGEO driver:

For the PGEO driver in the GDAL Paul has, I simply commented out the MDB Tools loading parts so that he can use a different Access ODBC driver as configured in his odbc.ini. Also, as I've been doing with all my GDAL builds, it uses iODBC instead of UnixODBC. Just so you know.

I tried the Actual Access/iODBC combination a while back (Jan I think) and it seemed to work. I don't remember how much I tested it, so I don't know if I got geometry data returned.
