[UMN_MAPSERVER-USERS] MAXFEATURESIZE for point data

MAXFEATURESIZE doesn't seem to work with POINT layers.
Is this normal behaviour? It doesn't seem to be explicitely pointed
out in teh documentation.
I'm using Chameleon, don't know if this changes anything though.
