Andre,

this is the way to do, if you want to use several single symbols as one, e.g. thin line on thick line with other color.
(use the style operator for that)

What you need are the min/maxscale keywords for your class:

Or if you just want to change size, use the SYMBOLSCALE key for layers:
http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/docs/reference/mapfile/layer
