Maptitude - http://research.umbc.edu/~roswell/maptitude.html Hi Marjorie and all: Marjorie, I thought since we discussed some important topics that might be of general interest I should summarize them and write them to the list: Can't set a break point in a manual theme: True in a sense, but then you can't really set anything automatic about a manual theme -- the point of a manual theme is that you set everything manually. One strategy that might help you is to use the Theme Wizard to create a basic theme that is close to what you want, then go back into the Theme Wizard, click on the "Manual" button, and adjust the classes to better suit your needs. Saving Themes: As discussed, there currently isn't a way to manage themes in the way you're describing i.e copy them from one map to another, one database to another, saving and restoring them. However, in your case there's a neat trick you can employ. You have a county layer with eight or so fields of similar data with similar ranges and distribution, and you want to make eight or so separate maps, one for each field, each showing a color-theme of one of the fields. There's a way you can do this without manually creating the same theme setting eight times. 1. Create a Formula Field, and name it something generic, like "Color-Theme Field." 2. Assume the eight fields you want to separately color-theme are called, creatively, "Field_1", "Field_2", "Field_3", etc. Enter as the Formula for the Formula Field simply: Field_1 This will basically duplicate Field_1 under the name of the Formula Field "Color-Theme Field." 3. Use the Color-Theme Wizard to create a color theme on the Formula Field "Color-Theme Field." 4. Use the Save-As command to save 7 copies of your original map with your painstakingly created color-theme. 5. Open up the second map copy and edit the Formula Field such that the formula is: Field_2 instead of the original "Field_1". This effectively replaces the contents of "Color-Theme Field" with the contents of Field_2 Repeat step 5 for the remaining copies. In this way, the theme has effectively been copied eight times to eight different maps, each on a different field. -Philip Villars Philip Villars (617) 527-4700 / 5113 FAX Manager of Technical Support Services Caliper Corporation 1172 Beacon St. Newton MA 02461 www: www.caliper.com !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.! ______________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Make your business more productive!
