>From time to time we have printer problems and i'll outline what we do to
get it working again. This may not be exactly your problem but others may
be experiencing it.

We have several win95 machines networked and one of the machines as a very
nice printer attached. The other machines have that printer mapped as their
default printer so all maptitude maps print there. Occasionally one of the
computers simply stops printing maps. No error is printed within Maptitude
but nothing prints. Heres what we have to do:

Start - programs - Explorer
Network Neighborhood.
click the machine with the big printer
left click to choose its big printer
right click
choose "CAPTURE PRINTER PORT TO LPT#"
in our case LPT3

The printer then works for a couple more months before problem happens
again.

Folks - we have produced some VERY large maps. Carl Chance and I had to
Overcome several problems to get good results I'd like to save you some
trouble and share the solution. Here Goes:

The Map contained several layers and covered 1100 sq miles and contained
about 150,000 polygons with the names of the owners of all parcels over 17
acres. The map was 9+ feet tall and 14 feet long. Our manual labeling
routine Inteligently places owner names within the his polygon. Then because
of the small point size the label required, Maptitude truncated the size
that required that we quadruple the desired size. When the map was ready to
print, we simply had to specify fixed point size for the labels and because
the resulting print software was scaling the map up for output, the ending
names stayed within their polygon.

Here is the truly important part of the puzzle We output to a special
"LARGE FORMAT R.I.P." program called Wasatch. That program then processed
the data and spit the map out on a HP Design Jet 750 with only 40megs of
memory. Professional print companys use that program but its not cheap.

Good Luck to all

Larry T.
