To anyone interested in using the Locate Facility/Service Area marketing feature in v4.7 to create a service area use caution as there is an implementation error. The help indicates that the procedure will create a circular service area that encompasses ALL of the points in a set and its CENTER. This is not the case most of the time. If you use the resulting service area to select point features inside then all points should be in the set...but, there will usually be 2 or 3 points left out. The reason being 1. that the "circular" service area is actually not a circle but a 99-gon and 2. that the facility is not at the true "center" of the points. It is not that big of a deal if you have only a small number of points because you can eyeball which ones (always either 2 or 3) are supposed to be on the border and put them in the set manually, but for a large number of points it may be tedious. Anyhow the reason for this post is to ask if anyone has a correct "1-center problem" implementation in GISDK (Maybe Caliper) or if it is even possible to represent a circle as a circle (not polygon) in Maptitude?
