Exactly what messages are you getting? Send me a screen shot, use
ScreenHunter http://www.wisdom-soft.com/products/screenhunter.htm its free
and it will take 1 min to learn and you can send me just a section of the
screen unlike the XP PrtScn function. Send them to [EMAIL PROTECTED] as
they can be a bit large and some folks eMail might get sick.

Stop using the network, put all your files on your on your own workstation.
Don't use any network drive.

Put all your Maptitude files in one directory with subfolders if you need
to. You could use C:\ccdata and put the Milford files in c:\ccdata\milford/
One thing I do which seems to cut down on file overhead is to make a
subfolder c:\ccdata\WS&Maps. Keep all of them in there. This makes for easy
backup as well. You could backup to the network safety, but do not access
your Caliper files from the network. Try this out and see what happens.
Later if the network seems to be the problem, make sure that each
workstation has a mirror of each others' c:\ccdata if others want to look at
your maps and vice versa.

Your IT people are creeps if they won't help out. Dennis needs to go after
them with a stick!

I suspect you are right, I have never had trouble like this with Maptitude
when everything is on my own workstation and lately not on my work network,
but I bet if you were using ArcGIS you would have the same problem. IT folks
can screw up a network in n! ways n -> infinity.

Hopefully Caliper will make the workspace and map files viewable & editable
so that when you have a problem with either you can really get a handle on
the problem.

Anyone else have some ideas?

Yes, we got your response. But we are still having problems with the
program. Everything we work on and save will not open once we close the
program and try to open it later. We have tried other alternatives -
working at different stations, saving to different drives - with no luck. I
think the problem is with our network here. It may be deleting files that
are not recognized by our network...and since our MIS department does not
support maptitude, we cannot get any assistance from them...

We are still trying other ways to see if we can continue to work with
maptitude.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I am having problems retreiving my workspace files after closing maptitude.

Whenever I resume work in maptitude, I see files saved under numerous
extensions (in addition to the files that I have saved as mapfiles - .map):
.lok
.cdd.
.bdr
.pnk
.sty
.bx
.ro
.dsk
.dsc
.dcb
.cdk
.upx

These file extensions are not recognized by Maptitude, and therefore will
not open (and Maptitude will not open files saved as .lay and .map).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program to make sure I can at least
recover files that may have been lost.

I am not sure what to do at this point. My workgroup cannot complete
assignments because we cannot retrieve files that were previously saved.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
Emma

For some reason, the data columns are not recognized as data by Maptitude.
