my apologies to the Maptitude and/or TransCAD users who may have already seen this reminder message on other listservs....
********************** Here is your "last call" for submission of a proposal to TRB (see below) for a Census-related poster. Please note that it is only an ABSTRACT that is due Friday (January 21), and not the ACTUAL poster--so even procrastinators still have plenty of time to get their submission in. Irvine, California in May 2005 sounds like a nice place to be, so it may also be useful to note that FWHA (as noted in a PDF file on the Conference web page) is providing some funding for supporting travel costs for state, local government and university poster presenters (a maximum of $750 per eligible author). Ken Cervenka North Central Texas Council of Governments p.s.: But even without any FHWA reimbursement incentive, getting official acceptance to present a poster at a major Conference is often a good way to convince one's boss (even a boss in a Consulting firm!) to allow an opportunity for travel. ------------------------------------------------ Posters are sought for a May 11-13, 2005 Transportation Research Board (TRB) conference in Irvine, CA on applications of Census 2000, CTPP2000, and the American Community Survey (ACS) data. The posters will be part of a conference, "Census Data for Transportation Planning: Preparing for the Future" which will (a) assess transportation use of the decennial census and (b) review the potential for ACS as a replacement for the decennial census "long form" for the transportation planning community needs. Poster proposals are due Jan. 21, 2005. See the Call at http://www.trb.org/conferences/censusdata/ As noted on the web site, the authors preparing posters should address the following questions: -- What census data was used -- How it was used -- The value achieved -- Problems or issues encountered The web site contains additional information about the Conference. Should you have any questions that can't be answered from the posted information, please contact Tom Palmerlee, [EMAIL PROTECTED], (202)334-2907 or Brian Canepa, [EMAIL PROTECTED], (202)334-2907. ------------------------------------------------ ------------------------ Yahoo!
