Caliper has done some investigating already on Maptitude and iPrint.
Your reasoning is correct in the sense that the Layout feature
requires a connection with the target printer that iPrint might
not be able to deliver.  We are still investigating.

As a work-around, assuming your have a driver for the target
printer accessible, you could use the "print to file" option
to create a local print file, which you could then, presumably,
"dump" to your iPrint printer.

Hope this helps.  We'll certainly let you know what develops regarding
this issue.
