Bud,

I want to use Delorme's USB Earthmate. I've done some more research 
and found that it has accessory serial and USB cables, and software 
to create a virtual serial port. I can also try a USB to serial 
converter.

Thanks for yours and other suggestions I've received. I should be 
able to configure the GPS for Maptitude on a laptop with a legacy 
serial port or the newer USB only laptops.
