Printing maps with a high density of streets can sometimes be problematic. The Automatic labels feature can indeed "max out" at a certain point when lots and lots of labels are demanded. When this happens the effect is very much as you describe -- labels appear to "stop" suddenly for a portion of the map. There are things you can try to do to improve the situation. As always, printing performance depends a lot on the available memory of the printer. Increasing the printer's memory will generally improve performance. Similarly, your printer's default resolution may be set very high. Dropping the resolution setting for the printer will greatly reduce the memory demand without necessarily hurting the quality of the final print job. While this is certainly worth investigating, simply increasing the available memory on your printer probably won't be sufficient to make this problem go away entirely. Lastly, there are some simple work-arounds. Using the "Manual Label" tool will let you easily add labels to those street segments you need to have labeled. Bob's idea, above, about making a new layer out of a subset of streets to ensure the get labelled is a good one, but it might be overkill, just creating a "Selection Set" within the street layer should be sufficient -- then you can turn off labels for the street layer itself, but turn them on for the selection set. !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!
