First, a confession, I was a prior user of Maptitude 4.5, but havent
used in a long time.
I HAVE been a recent user of Google Earth and love the ease of use,
the ability to import MY data into it (Maptitude join tables
function used to drive me crazy), and the size of files makes GE a
fantastic tool for distribution of maps that the lay person can
actually view and use as long as they have high speed internet
connection.
Add ons to GE are starting to appear also. Batch Geocode allows
geocoding of up to 500 addresses at a time, using copy paste from an
Excel template. Free.
Graphics in GE admittedly lag behind other software. However, the
newest add on is Arc2Earth allowing exporting of ESRI maps and their
graphics to Google Earth format. $100
I tried to search all prior posts using "Google Earth" but found
nada.
Questions:
1. How come no discussions on Google Earth?
2. Any attempts by group members to export their maps into a Google
EArth format?
3. Anyone looked at documentation for Arc2Earth to see if Maptitude
exports of Arview Maps could be imported into Arc2Earth for export
back into Google Earth files?
3. Any plans by Caliper to integrate GE map export functionality in
future upgrades, or development of a GE plug ins?
As they say, "Inquiring minds would like to know"
