Quality of data not's very good (depending on the scale you are working at), and is typically only for national scales ( 1:2million or smaller), if you use with other data at larger state scales the data won't line up and will look boxish.

Go to the National Atlas web site: http://www.nationalatlas.gov.  Navigate to the "Downloads" page and download the "Federal Lands" layer.  From this you can extract the National Forests.
