If I understand correctly, you want (for example) to lay precincts on
top of census blocks to determine what precinct each block is located
within?
If so, Maptitude calls this "tagging" and it is ridiculously easy:
1) Open the two layers.
2) Make the layer that you wish to tag (in this example the blocks
layer) the active layer.
3) Add a new field to the layer Dataview... modify table.
4) Open a dataview for the layer to which you have added the new field.
5) Right click on the new field, select "fill".
6) Select "tag", then the layer from which you are passing the data (in
this example the precincts layer) and the field (in this example the
precinct code), then OK.

How would this same process be conducted in Maptitude? I've used
the "merge geography" command, but have had limited success. I'm
