Hi all,

Please I would need some help here. We are trying to display MrSID images that have been created with a Geographic coordinate system (Lat/Lon) into Maptitude and it is always giving the annoying "Array not initialized" message. There is the same message when using TransCAD.

This situation have been aroused in the past, while using MrSid images using UTM but now we have tested for the first time with Lat/Lon coordinates with other products (MapInfo) and the images are read in without problems. Let me point out exactly what was done:

1) Four images from NASA's GeoCover (MrSID format in UTM) where used. These images load into Caliper standard products without problems after answering the usual questions about the UTM Zone and units. The only problem is that as two belong to different UTM Zones it is not possible to display them simultaneously. Maptitude or TransCAD overlays all the images at the same origin.
2) So as a way to came around this issue, we used a Lizardtech utility named GeoExpress to resample and create a mosaic containing the four images (S-21-25_2000, S-22-25_2000, S-21-30_2000 e S-22-30_2000).SID. The new image was created using a reprojection from UTM (WGS84) to Lat/Lon (WGS84). GeoExpress generated the resulting mosaic after 6 hours of processing and it has 1 Gyga.
3) As Caliper standard products do not understand the new MG3 (Mr SID Generation 3) format, the mosaic was converted from MG3 to MG2 format using the same software (GeoExpress).
4) This new image was not opened either with TransCAD nor Maptitude. Both systems asked for the coordinate system and it was not possible to go further, the error message "Array not initialized" is shown, and the system crashes, before been able to inform the datum.
5) The same image file is read in with GeoExpress (the one who created it) as well as MapInfo, and ENVI without any problems.

Some tip, ideas or walk-around  we can do to solve this situation?

Thanks in advance.

Reinaldo
