Thanks for the feedback...

By "show all features", I was actually referring to the text that pops up when 
rolling over the button that limits the display to the features of one 
selection only. (On my interface at least, the button is included on the 
toolbar that shows up if you hit "F9")   

In any event, SetDisplayStatus did indeed do the trick...to mimic the behavior 
of the button, I just created a selection set containing the complement of the 
set that I wanted to focus on, and set that to "Invisible".
