Hi Jeff,

Another option, assuming I'm understanding you needs correctly. Would be
to do what Chobbs suggested, except you would have to export the layer if
you didn't want to. From the selection tool box (Tools pull down,
Selection), there are four little Icons to the right of the tool box. The
Icon at the lower right or 4th quadrant , allows you to show ONLY the
selection set you choose.

However if you want to create a map that show you selected countries and
all the additional world layers, such as rivers, world places, etc, etc,
etc..., then you could use one of Maptitudes Geographic Utility functions.
After selecting you countires, go to the "Tools" pulldown menu, select
"Geographic Utilties", and select "Multi Clipper...:". Besure that your
active layer is the layer you want as you subset, then from the
"Multi-Clipper" menu you can choose which layers you want clipped to your
countrie boundaries.

I'm use Mapt 4.8, I'll be upgrading soon but not sure if the tools or
functions have changed much between versions (Pg 456 in 4.8 manuel or I'm
use you can search the online help.)

Hope this helps.

I've never done specifically this, but I think you could create selection
sets for what you want to see and then export those layers into new
"America" layers.
