Irina:
With your map window open, add to the active map an additional layer for census
tract polygons. The ccdata library of geo data that installs with the program
has a file "ccTract_H" which is the national file of 2000 census tract
polygons. Once that layer is included in your map project, change the active
layer back to the layer which contains the addresses that you have geocoded and
that you want to assign to a corresponding census tract. Go to the dataview
for that layer and highlight the column for the census tract value and
right-click on the selected column. Select "Fill" and then select the Tag
function. Choose the "ccTract_H" layer as the reference layer for the
"tagging" operation and further select the field which is the census tract
number. Select OK and Maptitude will assign the census tract value that
surrounds each geocoded address point and store that tract number in the tract
field.

I hope that clarifies how to perform the tagging operation ..see "Tag Points by
Area" in the Maptitude user manual for step-by-step.

Subject: [Maptitude] Re: how to map data

Hi Kevin,

Could you please be more specific? I geocoded the addresses and obtained
longtitude and latitude. I created a census tract field.
I do not know how to add a census tract polygon layer.
I went into Map libririan and opened a map for median income, but I still can't
get it to work for me.

Please help.

Thank you
Irina
