Please note the on Debian MariaDB 5.5. and 10.0 already builds fine and all build tests also pass for PPC64. The packaging source is at http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-mysql/mariadb-10.0.git and http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-mysql/mariadb-5.5.git but have not so far been upstreamed simply due to lack of time.
