Thanks for making this clear; I haven't found something about it in the
documents. By the way, the document sections which deal with the char data
types could eventually mention these pitfalls (like the MySQL documentation) :-)
Thanks for this suggestion. I've started adding some details to the
Knowledge Base. In general, if you come across areas of documentation
that could be improved, you can let us know (there's also a docs mailing
list), or feel free to make some changes yourself (the Knowledge base is
a wiki, so anyone can edit).
