Went home at 3am. Daughter number 1 wakes me up at 7am. I have to bring her
to review class for her college exams. What can daddy do? Since I'm awake,
let me write down my thoughts...
-------------------
Let me be the first to congratulate Batch '82 for a very successful
homecoming. I was pressed for time in my speech last night I could not fully
express my amazement.
It's the attention to details that made it different. I already mentioned
the "firsts" that they accomplished in my previous emails. The hallway leading
to the grade school covered courts was lined with blue and gold streamers and
lit by candles. The same theme continued at the covered courts. I was party
to the rehearsals. Jon Santos must have done eight by my count. Again
details.
So the result was a short program but long in entertainment. Amateur hosts
proved they can follow the lead of Jon. Highlight of the program was the
announcement of Bro. Pat of the medium-term development program. It will be
started by a new gym next year followed by more buildings culminating in 2014.
The program was followed by three, yes three bands. Batch '82 and Batch '87
provided one each. The third was a guest band from Batch 2007. The final set
ended at 11:30. Not bad considering the first set started at 8:30.
Co-hosts Batch '77 and Batch '87 also contributed to the success of the
celebration. Batch '77 celebrated the birthday of Mama Mary by providing
medical and dental services. And it was not an ordinary mission. There were
minor surgeries, diabetes screening, dental services, and optical services. I
was surprised they still had the energy to attend the homecoming despite the
half day of physical work.
Batch '87 had the honor of having their batchmate Fr. RB Hizon celebrate
mass for the alumni. How special was this? Fr. RB is the principal of the
Ateneo High School department. Yesterday, the Blue Eaglets had a game agains
Dela Salle. Principal duties dictate that Father RB must be present in the
game. Marist won. By the way, the mass was concelebrated by Fr. Enverga '77.
How did the webcast go? We had problems with Yahoo. Strange as it was fine
before the event.
Another evening of warm fellowship
Thank you Batch '82
