Funnily enough, it’s perfectly possible to retrofit support for the arbitrary attribute syntax I proposed in the past to Markdown by *post*processing – which is what I’ve done. Even more funnily, you can use exact same syntax and the same postprocessor to enhance Textile in exactly the same way… For some reason, that amuses me endlessly.
