I'm using the script exactly as downloaded from daringfireball.net. Be
sure to put it in the Unix Filters folder, *not* its sibling, the Unix
Scripts folder.
Based on its name, the Unix Scripts folder sounds sensible enough.
When I tried putting Markdown.pl here, it caused a blank window to
open, just like you describe. It also created a blank file called Unix
Script Output in the parent of the scripts folder.

@Tom Humiston: I'm not at home right now, but I had tried to install
via the method you did for TextWrangler and when I attempted to use
it all I got back was an empty page so I figured I had done
something wrong. Did you need to do anything to the script to get it
to work?

TextWrangler: I dropped the Markdown 1.0.1 Perl script into ~/

I renamed it "Convert Markdown to HTML" for a friendlier menu
name, and to distinguish it from another script that converts HTML
to Markdown.
If anyone knows how to do it, I'd like to see a Markdown item on
Mac OS X's Services menu, so that I can reach it from TextEdit or
wherever. Ditto for Markdown Extra.
ThisService is your friend:

see: http://wafflesoftware.net/thisservice/services/
"Tools that, although not written specifically for ThisService,
happen to work just fine when fed to ThisService"... markdown is
one of them.
