Are you suggesting that a paragraph consisting solely of text that looks like a URL should be treated specially based on its file extension? Something along these lines could work, but would probably be quite fragile.

Furthermore it downgrades quite nicely. There are of course problems it does not solve and extra complexity it would introduce; however, I thought I’d write this short email to see if anyone would be interested in discussing the idea.
