TOP STORY - A restructuring of the telecommunications industry will 
bring added competition and renewed investment and stability to the 
sector, AT&T Chairman and CEO David Dorman said today during a 
keynote address at the American Enterprise Institute. Dorman used his 
appearance at the institute to promote the pending merger of AT&T and 
SBC, which he said is "in the public interest and the broader competitive 
and economic interests of the nation as a whole."

SBC signed an agreement with the University of Arkansas to provide a 
wireless mesh network solution from Nortel for an on-campus private 
wireless network --- Charter said it selected Synacor, a provider of 
private-label portals and technology supporting online content, for its 
Internet platform and bundled content --- Please note, due to the Good 
Friday holiday, the markets are closed Friday. The Evening BRIDGE

>From the BRIDGE Annual Report, on regional phone companies - 
Verizon, SBC Communications, BellSouth and Qwest - and their plans to 
offer fiber services to consumers. "The fiber efforts have attracted big 
names. Three of the RBOCs have partnered with Microsoft for use of its 
TV software platform. Verizon has contracted with set-top manufacturer 
Motorola. And the companies are working with key programmers such 
as Discovery Communications and Court TV. The companies will have 
advanced video services similar to what's offered by incumbent 
competitors, including linear channel lineups and more advanced items
