---------------------------------------------------------------------
>From "The Virtues of VOD," out this week from the BRIDGE: "Comcast's
digital cable markets with on-demand programming have seen 20
percent to 30 percent lower churn among digital cable customers when
compared to other markets without VOD. That's significant for the
nation's biggest cable operator, given that 85 percent of Comcast's
footprint has access to on-demand programming. Also, Leichtman
Research Group has data on VOD usage that suggests at least some
digital cable subscribers may stay with their service thanks to on-
demand programming. A recent survey conducted by the firm found
that 15 percent of digital cable subscribers who have not used VOD
report they are likely to switch from their current cable provider in the
next six months, while just 9 percent of digital cable subscribers who
have utilized VOD say they are likely to switch."
