TOP STORY - At its annual shareholder's meeting in Philadelphia,
Comcast added Joseph Collins and Edward Breed to the board of
directors, bringing the total number of independent directors to eight of
its 12 members. Also at the meeting, all company-sponsored motions
were adopted into Comcast's master plan, yet every shareholder
proposal was defeated. Among the defeated proposals were motions to
disclose political contributions and the elimination of a Shareholder
Rights Plan.

Many things have changed over the past 25 years of cable television,
but one staple on everyone's dial has been the 24-hour news network,
CNN. Today, June 1, marks the 25-year anniversary of the first channel
dedicated completely to covering the planet's news --- CN8, the
Comcast Network, spread its reach into Pittsburgh this week, bringing
the company's total to 10 East Coast markets --- Gotuit Media Corp.
announced that Adelphia will be deploying the company's flagship
navigation technology- Gotuit On Demand and other products like
music, news and sports all on demand. --- The Outdoor Channel
announced that, in honor of its new all high-definition network, a
commemorative paint scheme will cover the No. 33 Chevrolet driven by
Tony Raines at the NASCAR Busch Series Winn-Dixie 250 on July 1.

Tom Eagan of Oppenheimer and Co. on failed Texas legislation that
would've benefited telcos and their move into video services: "The
failure to pass the bill suggests that RBOCs will need to gain separate
approvals from each local franchise in Texas in order to provide video
and the triple play bundle, an expensive and lengthy process, likely
delaying the RBOCs' foray into video. This delay will give cable
operators a headstart, as they agressively roll out VoIP and thereby
hook customers to their triple product bundle."
