TOP STORY - More than $700,000 collected from U.S. cable industry 
companies and individuals has been donated to community rebuilding 
organizations and cable operator employee relief programs in the Gulf 
Coast Region through the Cable Hope Fund, the National Cable and 
Telecommunications Association said. The funds are being used both by 
organizations and companies to support programs that are rebuilding 
houses and other infrastructure, and to provide direct assistance to 
individuals and families recovering this autumn’s hurricane damage.

The House, on a 212-206 vote, approved legislation pertaining to the 
digital TV transition. The bill, hammered out during a House/Senate 
Conference Committee early Monday morning, sets a hard date of Feb. 
17, 2009, for the DTV switch. Senate passage is imminent --- Liberty 
Global said it reached an agreement to sell its Norwegian cable business 
UPC Norge AS to Candover Partners Limited for $540 million --- The 
HorseTV Channel said Grande Communication will launch its network on 
Dec. 28 --- Gay television network here! added author Christopher Rice 
to its podcast --- OpenTV said its core middleware product will be 
deployed by set-top box manufacturer Vestel.

observance of Christmas --- Because of the holiday season, Evening 
BRIDGE will deliver its final enews update of the year on Thursday,
