The Senate approved legislation that contains provisions for the nation's
eventual switch to digital TV, including the establishment of Feb. 17,
2009, as the "hard-date" for the transition. The measure was part of the
larger Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, and needed a tie-breaking vote
from Vice President Dick Cheney for final passage --- Time Warner
promoted Jeff Bewkes to president and chief operating officer,
effectively making him the No. 2 executive to CEO Dick Parsons.
Bewkes was chairman of Time Warner's entertainment and networks
group --- Viacom said George (Toby) Nelson was appointed senior vice
president and treasurer for new Viacom, following the separation of the
organization into two publicly traded companies.

Craig Moffett on Cablevision: "With a cable asset sale unlikely in the
near term, in our view, the central question for the stock's prospects
remains whether or not Cablevision decides to sell its Rainbow assets.
We continue to believe those assets would be far more valuable to
others than they are to Cablevision. Unfortunately, however, we
continue to be skeptical about whether this question will EVER yield to
fundamental analysis."
