TOP STORY -- Rogers Communications, Canada's largest cable
company, denied a report in the National Post saying the company
offered 9.3 billion Canadian dollars for the country's No. 2 cable
provider, Shaw Communications. In a statement, Toronto-based Rogers
said "the purported meeting and offer described in the story did not
occur." The company didn't say whether it had made a different offer
than the one reported, and a spokeswoman declined to comment
beyond the company's statement.
