TOP STORY -- New York State attorney general Eliot Spitzer filed suit
against Gratis Internet today, alleging that the company profited by
selling sensitive data from millions of consumers despite vows of
confidentiality. The lawsuit charges that Gratis led e-mail users to
believe they were taking part in marketing surveys for free
videogames, DVDs and iPods while blatanly sundering numerous explicit
statements of confidentiality.

BRIDGE Bonus
---------------------------------------------------------------------
On original programming: "Last week, HBO aired the highly anticipated
first episode of The Sopranos' sixth and supposed final season. After a
half-decade, eight DVD releases, two soundtracks and well over $5
million generated through video rentals here in the States, the Time
Warner-owned HBO became the first network -- broadcast or cable -- in
television's history to exceed $1 billion in profits during any year
(2004)," the pub states. "And while A&E may have recently whacked its
cable adversaries for Soprano syndication rights, it's actually HBO that
is making the killing. According to reports, the network is paying a
record $2.5 million per episode, outbidding TNT, Spike TV and other
rivals to air reruns this fall." For more from The BRIDGE and to
