Hi Andy,
Sorry for any confusion! I was preparing to send the pitch out to run it by the community, and should have included some more details in my original email. The pitch is pasted below (we've plugged some place holder names in, but I can add or remove as needed). In advance of the announcement, we planned on reaching out to reporters that we (Cloudant) have existing relationships with to offer them interviews with Apache community members to talk about the CouchDB 2.0 release. We pre-pitch so that reporters have the opportunity to get their quotes and stories together so they can publish as soon after the announcement as possible. The pitch would come from me, and would be an introduction to members of the community (whoever is interested in being copied/speaking with media). Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Lynnette *SUBJ: Apache CouchDB 2.0 beta annc. Nov 17* Hi __________, I was recently in touch about Cloudant Local, a new on-premises DBaaS solution from IBM Cloudant. Now, I’d like to introduce you to Noah Slater, Lena Reinhard, and Andy Wenk, our friends at the Apache CouchDB™project. On November 17 at ApacheCon Europe, the CouchDB community will announce a developer preview release of CouchDB 2.0. The beta software adds improved database server clustering to the open source NoSQL database, making it easier to replicate data across different infrastructure and synchronize changes to multiple copies of that data at large scale. As Cloudant has grown as a company, so has our commitment to Apache CouchDB [1], [2], [3]. Now, as part of IBM, we plan to grow that commitment further [4], as CouchDB-style database replication becomes a key piece of IBM’s cloud data management strategy [5]. Lena, Andy, and Noah would be happy to introduce you to members of the CouchDB community, including VP of Apache CouchDB Jan Lehnardt. Please let us know if you’d like to find a time to connect with Jan and the CouchDB community. What is this? Has this been discussed here or with the community? Is this a paper? I am totally blind here ... Before anything will be sent out in the name of Apache CouchDB community, I would really like to see what you are sending. Thanks for a quick clarification.
