Thanks, Joan! Very important topic, tagline definitely might be better. What I think:
* Apache in front is too loud and captures too much attention. * No need to say it‘s a database – ‘CouchDB’ brand is self-explaining in this case * The term ‘replication’ is the most important part, and it sounds better than ‘sync’ * HTTP access is a core feature * All abovementioned DBs do not support attaches in a manner CouchDB does – so as for me attachments are important. So something like CouchDB is HTTP-accessible distributed key-value with mapReduce. ermouth 2015-08-10 17:06 GMT+03:00 Joan Touzet <[email protected]>: > Hey everyone, > > I don't know where we landed on this discussion last time, but I'm > fairly sure we didn't come to any sort of agreement. > > Our current tag-line for CouchDB is pretty unwieldy: > > "Apache CouchDB is a database that uses JSON for documents, > JavaScript for MapReduce indexes, and regular HTTP for its API" > > With the addition of mango, it's also inaccurate.
